In Romania, international freighter DB Schenker Logistics has acquired its first two Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles for distribution of goods in the areas of Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca. Based on annual travel of 70,000 kms, each new Iveco Daily 35S14G EEV truck is expected to reduce annually 3.2 tonnes of CO2 or 20% CO2 reduction compared to a similar truck fueled with diesel.
The payload of these trucks can reach 800 kilogram and they are going to run daily city transports for DB Schenker branches in the capital city Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca, Romania’s second largest city located in the northwestern part of the country.
“As a global transport and logistics provider we are aware of our responsibility towards the environment. Therefore, we rely on one of the most eco-friendly fuels on the market: compressed natural gas”, said Mr. Albin Budinsky, CEO DB Schenker Logistics in Romania. The strategy of the DB Schenker group is to reduce its specific CO2 emissions until 2020 by 20 percent.
Schenker says the Iveco DAILY CNG was identified as having the lowest CO2 emissions and the lowest consumption in its class of Euro 6 and EEV
