World’s Coldest City Gets Second CNG Station

The city of Yakutsk, the capital city of the Sakha Republic in northeast Russia, opened a second Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) filling station on July 31. Fuel retailer Sakhametan LLC has equipped the station with a Microbox packaged CNG compressor MCB 132-3-1500-6 and two EMB-15-1-D dispensers of two hoses.
The ceremony was attended by the President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Egor Borisov, General Director of Sakhametan Izmestev Alexander, Executive Director of Sakhametan Ruslan Shipkov, president of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Vladimir Members, First Deputy Defense “City of Yakutsk” Igor Nikiforov and others.
This is the second CNG Station in Yakutsk, the coldest city in the world with temperatures regularly falling to -40°C. Both stations will supply 450 CNG-fuelled vehicles which currently circulate in the city, of which 85% are buses.
President Borisov was acquainted with natural gas vehicles and the CNG station technology. He spoke of the Republic’s commitment to the national goal for increased use of natural gas as a plentiful cheaper vehicle fuel in abundant supply in Russia.
Several fleets have already converted to CNG, including public transportation company YAPAP, Yakut Bakery and Yakut Poultry.
